About The Recovery Room

The Recovery Room began when I left college, and my mother insisted I learn a trade—so I took an upholstery class at the University of Vermont. Years later, after stepping away from a career in hospitality to raise my first child, a disappointing upholstery job in our home sparked a thought: I can do better.

I started small—working for friends and family, refining my craft—and quickly fell in love with the materials, mechanics, and style of the work. What began in my basement, with young daughters nearby, grew into a full-service studio offering upholstery, custom window treatments, slipcovers, bedding, and motorized shades by high-quality manufacturers like Hartman & Forbes, Hunter Douglas, Lutron, and Somfy.

For over 25 years, I’ve worked from a renovated 1860s barn in North Fayston, Vermont, where I meet with homeowners and designers to create thoughtful, well-crafted decor.

I continue to study with experts across the U.S. and Europe, blending traditional craftsmanship with modern design. I am an active member of the National Upholstery Association and the Window Covering Association of America, and you’ll often see me working side-by-side with the next generation of makers. When I’m not in the studio, you’ll find me with my grandkids, in the garden, or dreaming about horses. I look forward to meeting you!
